Pulse sequence diagrams for LGE infarct imaging. a) Look-Locker pulse sequence and gating strategy used to acquire multiple TI images following adiabatic inversion, images from TI1-TI6 time points are shown for both mouse and rat, where the indices relate to number of R-wave triggers since the double gated inversion pulse. b) LGE IR sequence diagram follows the same gating and acquisition scheme but acquires a full flip angle multi-slice GRE stack at the nearest TI value to null healthy myocardium. In addition, TRs is time between slice acquisition pulses, TRir is time between inversion pulses, NPE is number of phase encodes, and Nslices is number of slices. Also note that as timings between TI frames are dependent on ECG gating they differ between rat and mouse (i.e on average RR of rat = 151 ms, RR of mouse = 111 ms).
