The area of the thrombus (encompassed within the doted lines) and the contours between the thrombus and the plaque (yellow line) are more clearly seen on the DW (high signal) and on the MTC (low signal) images. The presence of a platelet and fibrin-rich thrombus superimposed on the plaque is verified histologically. Asterisks indicate the lumen.
