Global longitudinal (a), radial (b) and circumferential (c) velocity-time curves from the basal, mid and apical slices of a single healthy volunteer. The longitudinal curves correspond to velocities measured from the longitudinal phase images, whereas the X and Y phase images are combined to produce the radial and circumferential velocities. The length of systole is marked on all curves. The various peaks mentioned in the text are marked. TTP = time to peak, SL = longitudinal peak systole, DL = longitudinal peak diastole, ASL = longitudinal peak atrial systole, SR = radial peak systole, DR = diastolic peak systole, ASR = radial peak atrial systole, C1 = first circumferential peak, C2 = second circumferential peak, C3 = circumferential peak diastole.
