In vivo CMR and histology from two pigs at 1 and 4 weeks post-infarction. TTC staining shows an infarct with a hemorrhage core at the anteroseptal myocardium at 1 week post-MI. In the fibrotic regions, there was intermixed granulation tissue, dense fibrosis and myocardium and mature scar at 4 weeks. There was no difference in infarct size at 1 or 4 weeks compared to histology. 1. Hemorrhage core and intermixed granulation tissue; 2. Infarcted myocardium; dense fibrosis; 3. Remote myocardium.
