Pressures are reported from the first recorded heartbeat prior to inferior vena cava occlusion in the dynamic pressure–volume loop experiment. Continuous variables are reported as mean ± SD. EDV end-diastolic volume, ESV end-systolic volume, SV stroke volume, EF ejection fraction, CO cardiac output, LV left ventricular, EDP end-diastolic pressure, SBP systolic blood pressure, DBP diastolic blood pressure. Differences from naïve animals by one-way ANOVA: *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01, ****p < 0.001
